Comment on the name of the association

We are aware that “musician” in our name of the association is used in the generic masculine. Unfortunately, this fact was not taken into account when our parent association, Musicians Without Borders, was founded in 2008. As a member association we are bound to the name of the parent association.
The discussion about a gender-fair adjustment of the name of the association (of the parent association and the member associations) is very close to all of our hearts and the next members’ meeting of the parent association should be used for this discussion.

We would like to emphasize that we welcome members and active members of any gender identity, as we want a diverse and multifaceted community!

Geschlechtersensible Sprache

We use gender-sensitive language in our publications. In doing so, we want to break the male norm that prevails in our society, because social thought patterns also manifest and reproduce themselves in language. We believe that equality of women and people who do not assign themselves to the binary gender system (man-woman) should also be reflected in the language. A gender-sensitive language is necessary for an equal thinking and a visualization of all people!

The gender star should make visible all people who do not assign themselves to the binary gender system (man-woman) and point out that “gender” is a social construction and nothing natural and unchangeable.
